FEMINITIVAS
It’s been a while that art community has been speaking about the necessity to give more opportunities to hear female voices in visual arts. Historically, women artists have been systematically marginalized and their contributions overlooked. “Nearly a half-century on from feminism, simply being a woman artist is still a revolutionary act. And getting one's work shown continues to be met by enormous inbuilt resistance.” - says Jerry Saltz, Senior Art Critic for New York Magazine and one of the most famous advocates for promoting art created by women.
We are tearing down the old structures that have kept women on the sidelines for too long. The history of art is full of male voices, but the future needs to be different. Female artists are not just filling in the blanks - they’re rewriting the whole script. This isn’t about ticking a box for gender equality; it’s about recognizing that women have always been vital to art, even when the world wasn’t watching.
By putting female artists front and center, we’re challenging norms and making sure the next generation knows that their voices matter - because art is stronger when everyone’s in the conversation.
The works here aren’t just pretty to look at - though they are. It’s art that challenges, art that says something real about the world we’re living in. FEMINITIVAS spans a range of styles and mediums, but what ties it all together is that these works are all about the senses - how we feel, see, touch, and navigate this chaotic world. They dive into those inner dialogues we all have, the ones that keep us up at night, questioning, searching, trying to adapt and survive in this fast-paced, ever-changing landscape. Amidst all that chaos, they’re about finding peace. They remind us that even in the whirlwind, there’s still a quiet center we can hold onto.
